The UK Department for International Development (DFID) is committed to helping achieve the International Development Targets agreed by the United Nations (UN) in the 1990s. Recognising and realising the value for poor people of the diversity of life can help meet many of these targets through livelihood opportunities, improved nutrition, health, water supply and reduced vulnerability. DFID is committed to making biodiversity work for the poor.
