Summary
Achieving human development while overcoming, rather than exacerbating environmental challenges – such as the degradation of land, watersheds and marine fisheries, deforestation, pollution, and climate change – is an immense but central challenge to humanity. Environment and Human Well-Being presents principles upon which each country can determine for itself the most appropriate steps to take towards achieving environmental sustainability. This report is the product of one of the Millennium Project Task Forces set up to monitor progress against the MDGs.
