Summary
Trying an Integrated Conservation and Development model is a challenge in its own right. If this is surrounded by poverty and high social conflict, promoting conservation becomes even more difficult, as initiatives have to attend the income aspirations of the local communities. This is what the project on Sustainable Use of Biological Resources – SUBIR – has done. This article reviews the main results achieved by this project
