What does membership to the PCLG entail and what do you get in return?

In order to join the Learning Group, members need to fill out a profile of their organisation for entry into our database. Beyond this first step, participation in the Learning Group generally indicates willingness to engage with other members of the Group, to share experiences and to be receptive to learn from others.

Membership of the Group entitles participant organisations to attend meetings organised by the Secretariat, to access the small grants fund (as and when resources are available) and to receive our regular e-bulletins and newsletters. Non-members are also able to freely access the website and other information resources (including e-bulletins and newsletters) but are not generally eligible to participate in PCLG events or access PCLG grants.

Membership to the group does not involve any fee.

How do I become a member of the PCLG?

The Learning Group is open to membership by individuals from organisations that develop or influence conservation and poverty reduction policy and those that are affected by it.

Criteria for membership of the Learning Group include:

  1. The organization is actively working on - or affected by - poverty-conservation linkages
  2. The organization is willing to share its experience - positive and negative
  3. The organization wants to learn from others and is committed to the learning process

If you fulfil these criteria, and would like to become part of the group, please contact us at pclg@iied.org. Your email should contain, beside a short covering message with your request for membership, the following information about your organisation:

For help in compiling a description of your organisation browse the section 'organisations' of this website, which will give you a clearer idea of the type of information and level of detail we aim for.

It is intended that the Group as a whole should seek to represent the range of organizations with an interest in conservation-poverty linkages. We are particularly interested to hear from organizations that could facilitate regional or national level learning processes that will feed into the international Group.
