Allendorf TD
Gurung B
November 2016

The paper explores how Nepal’s national protected area policies address conservation and development issues and how those policies translate into practice in protected area buffer zones. The authors compare four protected areas in Nepal and results highlight the need to balance conservation and development in terms of the larger context and opportunities and constraints on people’s livelihoods and opportunities.
