Global Witness

Global Witness

Global Witness aims to change the system by exposing networks that drive conflict, corruption and environmental destruction.

Projects

Global Witness is campaigning on the environment to end the unfair and unsustainable exploitation of natural resources, so that all can thrive within the planet’s boundaries. We work on the root causes of the exploitation that destroys lives and threatens life-supporting ecosystems. We tackle it by exposing flaws in the current system, the people who exploit them and by proposing better models. We believe that: forests are for life, not levelling, and that land is for livelihoods, not the highest bidder. We carry out field investigations, policy analysis and advocacy promoting national and international reforms to improve governance of forests and land in developing countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America with the aim of improving development and environmental outcomes.
