Dependence on forest resources and tropical deforestation in Ghana

This paper examines the sources of income for three forest districts in Ghana, additionally the authors examine, from the local inhabitants perspective, what the main causes for continued deforestation are, and what actions could be taken to reduce deforestation. This paper finds that agriculture and harvesting of forest products both contribute significantly to income, and therefore further loss of forest is likely to impact on their ability to survive.
