Sepik Wetlands management initiative, Papua New Guinea. Equator Initiative Case Studies.

This paper examines the effectiveness of the interventions undertaken by the organisation known as the Sepike wetlands management initiative, this organisation aimed to bring about the successful conservation of crocodiles in the Ambuniti region through establishing a alternative livelihood strategy dependent on the sustainable harvesting of crocodile eggs and skins. This was achieved successfully with significant positive impacts for both the crocodile populations and the income generated by the local community from selling eggs and skins.
