Kapawi ecolodge and reserve, Ecuador. Equator Initiative case study series.

This paper describes the community-based ecotourism initiative undertaken in the South-eastern Ecuadorian Amazon, the paper describes how the venture was started, and establishes the impacts that it has had, not only on the direct participants, but the wider community as a whole. The authors report positive impacts in terms of employment, empowerment in terms of land ownership, and income.
