Mainstreaming local health through herbal gardens in India: a tool to enhance women active agency and primary health care?

In countries like India, many people still do not have easy access to doctors and drugs. This article analyses the role of herbal gardens in the local livelihoods in rural India (Tamil Nadu state). The objectives of this study are to analyse the impact of home herbal gardens on the health of rural households in Tamil Nadu; and to analyse the socioeconomic repercussions of using medicinal plants at household and community level.
